A Brief History of LIFE International School

How did it all start?:  

In 2006 Scot Musser was serving as the headmaster of an international Christian school in Madrid, where his own four children were receiving a quality, rigorous education, inspired by Christian teachers and role models.That year he attended the ACSI Student Leadership Conference in Budapest, where over 250 students from other Christian schools around Europe had gathered for training in leadership. A member of the Romanian Parliament came to address the delegates and give public recognition and thanks to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for their role in helping develop Christian schools in Romania. This man spoke of the impact those schools had had in his country since the fall of Communism in 1990, noting that those schools “were transforming a generation of Romanian youth.”  

Immediately the question burned in Scot’s heart, “Why not Spain?”  He was not aware of any other Christ-centered schools in all of Spain, fully committed to a transformative educational philosophy rooted in the Word of God. What would it take to see this kind of education made available to Spaniards?  Would God help us see such a model developed and extended around Spain?

Fast forward:

• 2012:  Years of prayer led Scot and Carol to see that God was indeed calling them and opening a door to see a Christ-centered, reproducible model of education made available to Spaniards.  They set their sights on Tres Cantos.

• 2015:  Three years of planning, team development, and educational research led to forming the CSS association and the planning of LIFE.

• 2017:  Setbacks and delays led to LIFE opening its doors with preschool and Kindergarten. God does not despise small beginnings.

• 2020:  Even during COVID, the school continued to grow - now up through 5th grade.

• 2022:  LIFE becomes accredited with both ACSI and MSA.  MS and HS open.

• 2026:  LIFE’s first graduating class - Lord willing!! 

Yet to Come:

CSS is fully committed to seeing LIFE continue to grow into a full school of up to 280 students, offering a Christ-centered education to many more students and families.  This will require more space and Lord willing, a purpose-built facility in the future.

Also, God has used CSS and LIFE to inspire many other Spaniards in various parts of Spain to see a local team raised up who prayerfully pursue an opportunity to start a similar-type school in their region of Spain. CSS and LIFE want to partner with these initiatives to help see 19 more Christ-centered schools start around Spain.
